In addition to the technical program, two technical tours will be available for the participants at the end of the conference:
Sorry- Tour 1 is already fully booked. | |
Date | Wednesday, September 25, 2013 |
Time | 14:30 bus departs from Konzerthaus |
Fee | 30 € |
Facility / Developer | Magistrale/Fraunhofer ISE, |
Magistrale Fraunhofer ISE
Guided tour of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE - the largest solar-energy research institute in Europe, with a staff of 1300, including 700 students. The exhibition shows examples from a variety of research areas: photovoltaics, solar thermal technology, energy-efficient buildings, storage technologies, sustainable mobility plus smart grids and power electronics.
Passive high-rise building
With „Buggingerstraße 50“ a typical highrise residential building from the 60s could be refurbished to the „Passivhaus-Standard“ the first time. Beside energetic measures on the facade and supply system also the dwellings were redesigned as part of the refurbishment concept to improve the thermal quality and the accessibility for eldery and handicapped people. The building shows exemplary how future requirements on energy efficiency and changing social structures can be achieved in the existing building stock.
SorLuko Project
Within the collaborative project "SorLuko" the partners Airwasol GmbH & Co. KG, Contherm Wärmedämmsysteme GmbH and Fraunhofer ISE are developing a solar thermal driven dehumidification and cooling system. The HVAC system consists of an evacuated tube solar air collector from Airwasol with an open dehumidification and cooling system. The setup is an ECOS-type using an evaporatively cooled sorptive coated cross-stream heat exchanger applying a novel coating technique developed at Fraunhofer ISE. The collector can be used as a facade integrated type supplying the driving heat with air temperatures up to 150°C by means of high performance insulation of the collector header incorporated by Contherm.
Test Stands PSE AG
At PSE AG test stands you will see one of the foremost solar simulators undergoing indoor performance testing. Experience how the SORAS – ST8 fully-automated, steady-state solar simulator is controlled and how the measurements are obtained. To test the performance of thermal collectors, the lamp generates an artificial, homogeneous, steady-state light field which is almost identical to natural sunlight. The automated-collector test platform and lampfield positioning make it possible to test the collectors in any position from horizontal to vertical, The integrated collector circuit is equipped with precise control and measurement equipment.

Facility / Company / | Cold Storage Room/Kramer/Fraunhofer ISE/Industrial Solar, |
Cold Storage Room
At the Kramer company you will see the pilot installation of the first solar thermally-driven cold storage room. The installation incorporates an 88m² Fresnel-collector, an H20/NH3-absorption chiller, ice storage and a 100m³ storage room. The system has been running since 2012 with promising results.
Manufacturer of Absorption Cooling Machines
Fischer Eco Solutions - a manufacturer of absorption cooling machines - has installed a solar cooling and heating system in their newly-built office building in Achern. The water-LiBr absorption chiller with a cooling capacity of 100 kW is powered by an Industrial Solar Fresnel collector string 90m long with an aperture area of 484 m2.
